Faith during the pandemic
Father Tamás Tóth and his parish had to deal with many challenges since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. In the first wave, Masses could not be held in Catholic churches in the presence of believers, so they were broadcast online on the parish’s Youtube channel. They also returned to this solution in the second and third waves of the pandemic, as distancing measures (every second row of benches had to be closed, 1.5 meters between families had to be kept) severely limited the capacity of the church and many people also remained home with caution. So the masses could be followed in person and online as well. Although the masses of the fourth wave were held only in personal presence, the wearing of the mask was still mandatory for everyone. The photo series shows how the coronavirus pandemic has affected masses and religious practice over the past two years.
